Why would a loving God…

One of the biggest questions that Atheists and Agnostics have is, “Why would a loving God (fill in the blank)?”

Let me start my answer by giving a little illustration.

Why on earth, would a car company put out a vehicle like this?

The logical answer to that question is that the car maker didn’t send out a vehicle in that condition. The car they sold actually looked like this:

The car in the first photo is the result of the driver’s actions. That much is obvious to us.

So why isn’t it obvious to an unbeliever that the world with all of its suffering and decay aren’t what God created?

The world God made was perfect. There was no death, no suffering, no hunger. It was truly Paradise. So what happened? You’ll find the answer in the book of Genesis. When God gave the world and everything in it to Adam

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
NKJV

The serpent enticed Eve, telling her that God hadn’t told her the truth, telling her she would not surely die. She ate the fruit, giving some also to Adam, and they both rebelled against the God who had made them and given them Paradise.

Make no mistake, they indeed died that day. They didn’t fall to the ground and stop breathing, but they did cut themselves off from Life. And just like the rose that is cut from the rosebush, and remains beautiful for a time, it is dead. So it was with our first parents.

Instead of passing on an inheritance of Paradise, our first parents bequeathed to us Death and suffering. The fault is ours, not God’s.

Feel free to ignore…

I started this blog to deal with a challenge I got in a PM a couple of days ago from an online acquaintance.

The PM (slightly edited for anonymity) said:

I’d like you to watch some videos. I’ve grown a lot in my beliefs since we last talked and I believe I can articulate much better now than then, and even more then that, these videos contain actual references and whatnot.

Disclaimer: These videos are relatively harsh. They sort of degrade people in your situation… please overlook these things as that’s not what I’m going for. The facts mentioned take much less time for you to listen to then for me to type them.

(Link edited out because I don’t want to steer anyone to look at the video.)

Any of the videos by this person are very informative… well, the “Interview with God” ones are a little slow…

I like the “Bible is repulsive”, “No one can get into heaven”, “God’s plan is impossible”, and “Christians are delusional”.

The first one I saw (about a week ago, so don’t think these videos brainwashed me) was “The best optical illusion” one.

Feel free to ignore… if you think you can’t handle it.

I am currently downloading the video so I can more easily make notes.  I will post my responses to the questions in this blog.
